Announcements and News.....

Partnership in Ghana
August, 2004

Missionary TECH Team has the privilege of seeing, up-close, God at work in many places and through countless means. As we come alongside a diversity of ministries with requested aid, we are partners with them to fulfill God’s plan to reach the world. One of TECH’s partnerships is with International Community School in Kumasi, Ghana, West Africa.

International Community School (ICS) was established to raise a new breed of African/International leaders who would be well educated and prepared for the challenges of the 21st century; who would have an international impact on the world as “ministers of the gospel” in secular and ungodly environments.

Many Ghanaians, missionaries and expatriates live close to cities where there are good international schools but either they cannot afford the exorbitant fees or cannot cope with the secularism and godlessness that reigns on the campuses, where the name of God cannot be mentioned. In 1999, Dr. Charles and Mrs. Matilda Yeboah prepared to return to Ghana from the United States, where Charles had received theological education (PhD and Mdiv). The couple decided they should start a school that would address the needs of their own family and others in similar situations.

As the Yeboahs shared their vision with Christian friends in the States, gifts of school supplies and teaching aids were donated a few months before their departure. Shortly after their return to Ghana, a group of teachers arrived from the US to provide in-service training to the newly recruited Ghanaian staff. The school opened in April 1999 with seven children. By September 2002, the school had an enrollment of 250 children with at least 100 others on a waiting list. Similar continuing increases are projected. Where does Missionary TECH Team come into this? Since the school is in need of funding, equipment and staff, Dr. Yeboah asked TECH to write and design a brochure to provide specific information for interested individuals that might help. Graphic Services was able to make this available for their use.

International Community School purchased 20 acres of land in 2001. Missionary TECH Team has designed a facilities master plan for the physical development of the K-12 campus on this property. First of construction began in 2002. TECH Architect Bob Schill has provided drawings for the first phases of those plans as they progress. As God equips ICS to continue with their vision, TECH will partner in providing the necessary drawings. The plan will include six phases through 2009.

Included is a photo of the newest phase 2 building on the Kamasi, Ghana, school project, currently undergoing roofing. Expectations are to move into the building in September. Dr. Yeboah is asking for the next set of drawings for the dormitories.

Ask God for a continuing effectual witness in Ghana as well as in the world through the education provided at ICS. Pray that God would faithfully provide all that is needed in the way of staff, equipment, supplies and facilities. Thank God for TECH’s partnership in affecting young lives through the ministry ICS. We pray for God’s mighty work in the lives of the students.
